Roasted Makhane & Almonds – Healthy Snack Option!

Want to munch something on the go? Here’s a quick and healthy recipe which is crunchy and crispy too. You can make this beforehand, store in a jar and munch whenever feeling hungry.

Some of the health benefits of Makhana or Phool Makhane are: It’s a good source of protein, carbohydrates, fiber, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, iron and zinc. High in fiber and low in calories, it enables weight loss too.

To make it healthier, I have added almonds too. You can add walnuts or even cashews too. It totally depends on your taste.

Simple, very quick and easy to make – let’s get started.

  1. Slit makhane in half using a knife. Do this for the entire 250 gms or whatever quantity you making.
  2. In a kadhai, heat ghee and roast makhane and almonds on low flame.
  3. Keep tossing them. We want the makhane and almonds to get roasted from all the sides.
  4. Once you see they are roasted enough, switch off the gas. Pour a bit of ghee and sprinkle black pepper powder and salt. This is done so that the masala gets stick to the makhane.
  5. Check the seasoning. You can adjust according to your taste.
  6. Once cooled down, store them in a jar and you are good to go. Enjoy this when you are hungry. It tastes yum!
