How to make Frozen Peas at home?

 

The season of Green Peas is here. These are available pretty cheap in the market and also in abundance. So why not, make the most of it!? 😉

In this blog post, we will learn how to make frozen peas at home or how to make homemade frozen peas in a jiffy 😉

Frozen peas come very handily as you can use them during any season of the year. Whenever you wanna cook something that has peas, take these out from the refrigerator and you are good to go.  Over a period of time, I have seen my Mom making them every year. This time I thought, oh why not share this recipe/steps with you.

Here I am talking about 1/2 kg of peas, you can make larger quantities too. This half kg is after you have taken out the peas from the pod.

  1. Remove the peas from the pod. Rise them well under tap water. Keep it aside.
  2. In a big vessel, put water and let it come for a boil
  3. Once a boil has come add salt and sugar, this will help in preservation.
  4. Add peas and let it float on the top/ they will come on the top after 2 mins or so.
  5. Switch off the gas.
  6. Using a strainer, strain the water in some other vessel and strain aside the peas.
  7. You can again use the same water for the next batch of peas.
  8. Let the peas dry over a cotton cloth. Spread them so that all the excess water is soaked.
  9. Let it cool down and come to room temperature. Pat dry using a kitchen towel until no moisture is there
  10. Store them in small ziplock bag or tupperware containers.
  11. Freeze them in fridger.
  12. These go a long way, almost an year.
  13. When you wanna use, just take one ziplock bag out, let it come on room temperature.
  14. Soak them in warm water before use.
