Khatta Amla Candy | Winter Special

Amla or the Indian Gooseberry is a tangy fruit, which may not be that appealing in taste but has got numerous health benefits.

During Winter, people make Amla Achar, Chutney, Murabbas and even Candies. Store them in big jars and enjoy them throughout the year.

Amla is amazing for hair, skin, it improves immunity and is a rich source of Vitamin C. From drinking Amla Juice to apply Amla Oil, we all know the benefits of this wonder fruit.

My Mom makes yum Amla Candies. Now there are two types of Candy which you can make. One being sweet ones and another being this Khatta one. I personally love this Khatta Amla Candy. These are instant to make and it is perfect for people who love to eat Khatta. With just 2-3 ingredients you can make it in a jiffy.

  1. Boil water in a large vessel. Add Amla to it. Amlas should be deep inside the water. Cook it for 3-5 minutes.
  2. Switch of the gas and strain the water.
  3. Cool the Amla and de-seed it with the help of your fingers.
  4. Take out the slices in a bowl or plate like below.
  5. Sprinkle salt and black pepper powder. Give it a good toss and enjoy.

Note :

You can enjoy them straight away. Mind it, these are really tangy in taste but yum.

You can add powdered sugar, to make it Khatta-Meetha in taste.

You can place the plate under the sun and let it sun-dried.

Once sun-dried, store them in a cool place.
