Bajra ki Roti is a traditional Rajasthani recipe which is made from Millet flour or Bajre ka atta. Since it is gluten-free and highly nutritious, it’s a perfect recipe to include in one’s diet.

Bajra flour is easily available in the market these days. You can find it at any local grocery store or supermarket. Linking it here.

Winter season is the perfect time to have Bajre ki Roti. In our home, we eat it with Marwari style Kadhi and a big piece of jaggery or gur. It tastes absolute yum and it provides heat to the body too. Millets are healthy grains, try to include them in our daily diet for nutritional benefits.

  1. In a deep mixing bowl or thali. Take Bajre ka Atta, add pinch of salt. Mix well.
  2. Slowly-Slowly add water and incorporate it well with your hands to make a soft dough.
  3. Its like normal roti dough but it will be bit soft in texture.
  4. Make the dough prior to 5-10 minutes. No resting is required.
  5. On a plastic sheet, take a medium size round ball of the rough. Dust it with some bajra flour.
  6. Place the ball in between the plastic sheet and roll it with the help of rolling pin/ belan. Be a bit gentle while rolling the roti.
  7. Once rolled out, take it out from the plastic sheet and put it on hot tava or flat pan.
  8. Cook the rotis from both sides, on sim flame. The idea is to cook on the gas at sim flame so that it cooks perfectly.
  9. Once a bit done, take the roti and cook it on direct heat.
  10. Once cooked, add generous amount of ghee and serve hot.
  11. Serve it with Kadhi and Gur/Jaggery or any Gravy sabzi of your choice.
